Downtown's 88 keys are sampled in various dynamics and with individual samples for full resonances and noises.

Downtown comes with pure piano presets in stretched and equal tempered tuning, as well as hybrid piano-synth presets that combine the acoustic piano samples with sounds from Live's software synthesizers.

About the Studio Grand Series

The Studio Grand Series, by e-instruments, accurately captures the sound of the acoustic grand piano for unprecedented authenticity and musicality. The fullness, richness and clarity of the Studio Grand Series are a result of meticulous microphone positioning and recording with the highest quality mics, pre-amps, and D/A converters.

The pianos use Live's Macro Controls to provide individual and direct control over reverb, release noise volume, key noise volume, sustain resonance volume, tone, velocity and fine tune.

The samples of all 88 keys and multiple release samples for each of the four pianos in the series are optimized for economic hard disk usage without compromising on depth of expression and range. Each piano is prepared in a stretched, traditional classical tuning plus an equal tempered tuning, which is ideal for popular music.
