Revered Atlanta-based producer Sound Oracle has been tapped up for beats by legends like Jay-Z, Timbaland, Drake and Justin Timberlake. The hip hop heavyweight has pulled together two Packs to celebrate the launch of Live 12, channeling his extensive experience into Kits and Clips perfect for rap production, and equally inspiring for all kinds of other styles. 

‘Golden era’ hip hop of the late 80s and early 90s is often called boom bap because of the sound of the cut-up drum breaks. After pioneering artists were finished running their crate-dug samples through breakthrough units like the Akai MPC and E-mu SP1200, the beats came out rough around the edges and charged with a vintage warmth.  

In this Golden Era Hip Hop Drums Pack, Sound Oracle has created 20 Kits which feature quintessential boom bap drum hits, from punishing kicks to crunchy snares and sizzling hi-hats. Each Kit comes bundled with distinct effects which mean you can dial in additional processing to achieve the sound you want. On some of the kits these additional effects can be used with MPE, so if you’re using Push 3 you can choose how much the effects are applied depending on where you hit the pad. It’s a fast track to bringing variation and expression to your drums, taking a classic sound to a whole new level.
