The Victoria Ableton User Group connects the community of Live users in Victoria and on Vancouver Island. All skill levels are welcome. We cover a wide range of topics, mostly focused on electronic music production and performance. Some of things we chat about are sound design, synthesis, workflow tips, new features, DJing, mixing, mastering and remixing. Beyond that, we also discuss broader topics, such as building a project studio, reviews of gear & plugins, music theory, the creative process, the music business and how to make a career of being an artist. For this reason, we also welcome users of other software and any interested, aspiring musicians.
We’re hosted by Warp Academy, an Ableton Certified Training Center, located at the McTavish Academy of Arts, 1720 McTavish Road, North Saanich, BC. This gives us access to a classroom, projector, studio facilities and reference monitors. Our studio is set up for live streaming, and we’ll be broadcasting and recording some of our larger sessions so members can attend remotely or watch archives.
As a member, you can learn in a variety of ways. Our in-person events are lead by the Ableton Certified Trainers at Warp Academy. Where possible, we also invite touring artists and experienced Live users from the community as guest presenters.
In addition to the live events, we also publish free tutorial videos every week. This is a great way to get up to speed fast, or to stay inspired in between sessions.
