Rachel K Collier has been working in the commercial music industry since 2013 and using Live professionally since 2014. She gained recognition initially as a featured artist and topline writer, though has since become known for her own electronic productions and performances with Live, particularly via YouTube. Rachel leads regular workshops both online and in-person, highlighting different ways to perform with Live, as well as mentoring production and performance techniques via her Patreon program. She is passionate about helping others to discover and develop their own unique sound by diving into workflow techniques and implementing a top-down approach to music creation.
Rachel’s release highlights include a UK top 20 single and Grammy nomination for her work with electronic producer Mat Zo. She has toured throughout the UK and internationally, including playing at SXSW, BBC’s Biggest Weekend and, most recently, for BBC Introducing at Sophia Gardens Arena in Cardiff. She is an avid Push 2 user, using it as the heart of her live setup on stage and in the studio. Rachel uses Max for Live plugins regularly but does not specialize in developing Max for Live devices.
Rachel’s method of teaching is highly focused on creative output and using Live as a tool to achieve musical objectives. She has created two online courses which set out her techniques: ‘How To Produce Music with Ableton Live’ and ‘How To Perform Music with Ableton Live’, each supported by a Discord community where she offers advice to her students. Advanced technique workshops, music-making challenges, listening events and one-to-one sessions with Rachel are also available via her Patreon program.
