Prosody is a term used to describe the relation of a sound or a part of music in connection with other aspects of the composition. A simple example would be, the use of a minor key, in a song that features sad lyrics.
Erin Barra, an Associate Professor at the Berklee College of Music, joined us at Loop 2018 to explain her own application of sonic prosody and primary inspirations in songwriting. In a detailed track deconstruction, Barra demonstrates several approaches to achieving prosody, through careful analysis of lyrical content and various complementary sound design.
