Push Performances: Our Favorites from 2023
In the seven months since the release of the new Push, artists around the world have been continually surprising us – making a home for the instrument in emerging scenes and unlikely landscapes. To round off the year, here are some of our favorite performances from music makers getting to know their standalone setup. Enjoy!
DeLaurentis
Emotive pitch bends from Push make for a rapturous rework of Björk’s “Venus as a Boy”, marking the song’s 30th birthday.
Rachel K Collier
Standalone performances don’t get much more scenic than this. Stick around to see how Rachel sets up her Push to play live too.
edIT
Infectious vocal chops and slamming drums, sequenced live with Push then mangled in edIT’s modular rig.
Andri Søren
See just how far expressive sound design can go – this three-minute performance from Andri Søren is one of the best showcases of MPE on Push so far.
Lionclad
Quirky samples and quickfire finger drumming offer a thread through this free-flowing performance from Lionclad.
John Type
Morphing through The J.B.’s, Mr Oizo, Skrillex and Missy Elliott, John Type shows us how much Push can do in the deft hands of a turntablist.
