Live Track Deconstruction with Photay

Photay deconstructed ‘Pressure’ in front of a live audience at Loop 2018, in a session moderated by Dani Deahl. The video breaks down how layered vocals recorded with the natural reverb of a New York bunker can fit with harsh, stock drum sounds and software instruments.

Through live demonstration and audience questions, Photay outlines his process of creating drum tracks, self-sampling, and the relationship between source sounds and effect processing.

Bonus track:

Photay - ‘Balsam Massacre’, from the 2017 album Onism.

‘Pressure’ is out now on Mexican Summer as part of Photay’s new album ‘Waking Hours’

Keep up with Photay on Facebook, SoundCloud, and Bandcamp.
