Free Stuff Friday: Punchy 808, House Drums Sequencer, and Generative Tones

Happy Friday everyone! By now, Free Stuff Friday has become something an institution for the Ableton community - weāre thrilled to see people on Facebook, Twitter and Google+ taking to it, and love that you enjoy downloading the goods as much as we enjoy finding and sharing them. That said, if youāre new to Free Stuff Friday - or just want to search through the growing archives - you can always review the posts under the dedicated tag.
Now, on to this weekās free stuff!
Legendary Drums, Vintage Machines

The restored Fairchild 670 compressor.
As drum machine sounds go, you canāt get any more classic than the Roland TR-808 (check out some of our favorite 808 tracks for a trip down memory lane). Using an original TR-808 processed through a restored, rare Fairchild 670 all-tube compressor, Certified Training Center Liveschool and Studios 301 present a pack of drum samples dripping with vintage flavor. With multiple settings sampled from the 808, you get the character of the classic in a convenient Drum Rack.

Jack the Haus
Building on his own experience making house patterns with just the right touch of groove, Alexkid released the original Instant Haus Max for Live sequencer in 2011. Working with this sequencer, Certified Trainer Antonio Sage and his Audio Outlaw collective created Chicago Hous Mod - a special version of Instant Haus featuring new controls, and a template for the Lemur iOS controller.
In addition to the preset patterns and ability to mix-and-match offered in the original Instant Haus, Chicago Hous Mod allows you to open the patterns on a grid and edit them visually.

Spikes in Time

Spiker for Max for Live.
As much as we love complex, maximalsynthesizers - thereās something undeniably beautiful and inspiring about working with raw sine waves. For example, itās easy to get lost in Raster-Noton co-founder Frank Bretschneiderās sine wave-based āLooping IIā:
Spiker, a Max for Live instrument from Italian musician Roberto Attanasio, generates an evolving pattern of high and low sine tones, based on a simple set of rules and an input base frequency. Great for percussion and melodies alike, Spiker is an intriguing instrument that also sounds great with cavernous, haunting reverb and/or short delay tails.
