Rennie Pilgrem

With the release of A Place Called Acid in 1995 and the birth of the London club night "Friction," featuring Adam Freeland, Tayo and Ian Williams, Pilgrem pretty much kick-started the entire "Nu Skool" scene.

Pilgrem has released records on the likes of Whole9yards, City Of Angels, Chrysalis/EMI, and Mob and China Records. He has collaborated with top producers, including legend Arthur Baker (on "Like No Other," "Hey Funky People" and "Face It"), BLIM (on the massive "Eskimo" track, and now on the equally huge "2Freaks") and with Meat Katie (on "Rubba" and "Atmosphere"). Following the huge "Black Widow" track, Rennie went back into the studio with Uberzone and produced the follow-up "Cous Cous," which received massive support from the likes of Pete Tong, Plump DJ's and Stanton Warriors, to name but a few.

He continues to DJ all over the world and blow crowds away with his dance floor-friendly, funk-infused breaks. He is resident at Rome's premier night, "Agatha," and has recently relaunched his club night called "Hum" with Meat Katie, which takes place at The Fortress in London. Last year he was voted "Most Valuable Person" in breaks at the Breakspoll Awards in London.

Rennie's Perfecto Breaks mix CD, produced using Ableton Live, received huge support from all corners of the dance world. His latest remix of Ferry Corsten's "Rock Your Body" is getting played by all the top jocks. Currently he is working on his artist album for TCR (due out Sept 2004) as well as new collaborations with the likes of Lee Coombs.

Rennie will be mixing the next Y4K album for Distinctive Breaks using Ableton Live.

"I have just done several important mixes for the radio as promotion for my Pilgremage album. Everything was done using Ableton Live, and I couldn't have done it as quickly or creatively using any other method I know of. I did it while touring the USA and Canada on my laptop, which saved me loads of time in the studio as well."
