Ernesto started making music when he was eight years old. He started with electric guitar, aiming to become a guitar virtuoso. Instead, he also learnt piano and classical composition which led him to write, conduct and premiere chamber music when he went to college in Valparaíso, Chile. His first experiences in electronic music were with Puredata and Csound, along with circuit bending and sound art.
Ernesto has also studied pedagogy, becoming a teacher in 2007. Currently, he’s working as an independent instructor, coaching artists, aspirants and students on the musical scene in Mexico in order to support all of their music production needs.
Ernesto has used Ableton Live since 2008 and it has become his tool of choice for all current projects, including creating electronic dance music, writing music for contemporary dance and installations, live performance art projects, playing live using Push and programming Max patches to control stage lighting and VJ sets. Latin American music has a huge influence on Ernesto’s aesthetic and works.
Ernesto’s method of teaching is based on the needs of his students, and uses their personal interests to motivate them to develop their chosen skill sets. He offers private and one-on-one lessons in Mexico City and online. He also runs his own online school “Malaca Music Lab” with everything you need to learn Ableton Live & Push.
