San Francisco User Group: Overlap and BArCMuT present Dia de los Maxos

For this second collaborative Salon event in Overlap's ongoing team-up with the Bay Area Computer Music Technology group, the San Francisco Ableton Live User Group is returning to the San Francisco digs of the Gray Area Foundation for the Arts. It's a performance-oriented evening for the season of skeletons, ghosts and spooky sounds. They've lined up music and technology presentations by three edge-walking artists using modern controllers, Ableton Live and Max/MSP/Jitter from Cycling '74.

When:
Wednesday, October 28, 2009, 7:00-9:00 PM

Where:
Gray Area Foundation for the Arts
55 Taylor Street
San Francisco, CA

Event presenters:

Jef Stott is a producer/composer of tribal dub, ambient electronica and Eastern breaks on Six Degrees, Universal, EMI, Hearts of Space and others. With Mohammed Mohanna he's developed the extensive and mesmerizing Subtle Body project, an interactive biofeedback musical system using Max/MSP/Jitter and Ableton Live. (Visit www.jefstott.com)

Edison is a member of the Monome community backbone. With his instantly recognizable DIY Monome in a yellow lunchbox, Edison combines elements of hip-hop, glitch and breakbeat to create a sound entirely his own. In addition to his Monome, Edison's toolkit includes the Love Box, Nintendo DS, Where's The Party At? 8-bit sampler kit, Max/MSP and Ableton Live. (Visit www.myspace.com/bearless)

Preshish Moments is a beatwrecker who developed his performance system from the ground up. Using a large, DIY wooden controller driving Shredder, the loop-mangling software he created and continuously refines in Max/MSP, Preshish Moments takes seemingly nice rhythms and turns them into something entirely otherwise. Hang on to your beats. (Info at www.preshishmoments.com)
